Hondas of Autocon Los Angeles 2013
Combing through what felt like a sea of modified cars was an exhausting task at this year’s Autocon Los Angeles. The Summer heat combined with a turnout that even WekFest would find astonishing created a very nostalgic feel – almost like a modernized Hot Summer Nights.
In spite of my sweat drenched body and the unending waves of onlookers, I was able to cherry pick a few of the gems among the desert oasis that was Autocon 2013. That isn’t to say I was able to capture all of them. Unfortunately for us, many of the astounding builds on display were constantly under assault by other camera men and Honda enthusiasts, and we couldn’t find the opportunity to capture them in a light that was befitting of their unadulterated beauty and magnificence. We were lucky enough to capture quite a few FG and FA Civics, along with one or two non-Civics that were just too sexy to pass up on.
This FG2 was quite a sight to behold. Not only are FGs with aero upgrades rare, but this one had a full frontal face lift! A Mugen RR style front bumper adorned this black beauty, complimented with a touch of red from the JDM emblem sitting atop the grille.
Nighthawk Black Pearl with BBS meshies, yellow fogs, red emblems, and an HFP lip kit. Literally the perfect combination of mild mannered mods in my book.
Blue on white. Or is it white on blue? Either way, another perfect example of timeless beauty executed on a modern platform. The HFP lip and hood visor only serve to complement the build further.
Who hasn’t seen this monster romping around at least two or three other venues? The Bulletproof Automotive Honda S2000 is a welcome face among the tuner community and probably will remain so for years to come.
Mugen in the front, Mugen in the rear. It’s like a mullet but it’s 100% party at the shows and 200% business at the track. Reminds me of a similar build found in another article here on Yospeed.
I know the 9th gens only a year(and a half?) old, but I really wish we could see more of them representing their clan at the shows and meets. I’m a huge fan of the newer design and this one has definitely won my heart. All black with a touch of red to let the other creatures roaming the streets know you mean business.
More mugen goodies. Is that a speck of dirt I see behind the spoke? That’s a paddlin’.
This was the first teal accented Civic I ran into at the show, but it wasn’t the last. Was it the best looking? The judges at Autocon Los Angeles will have the last say there.
Fiji Blue Pearl – one of the rarest colors when it comes to the 8thcivic herd. Only available on the Si, so you know it’s packing one of Honda’s most famous engines, the K20, underneath it’s hood. Teal and blue isn’t a color combination you see very often, but this one creates a perfect harmony between the two colors. Lots of unique mods here as well.
The longer the 8th gen Accord sits on the market, the more likely we’ll be to see more akin to this one. Hunched down on it’s hind legs, ready to pounce on the next onlooker, this 8thgen is one of a handful of pioneers bringing out the potential in this amazing chassis.
