86 Fest III – Car Clubs, Daily Drivers, and More – Part Dos
Part Dos of our coverage from 86 Fest III is finally here. We scoured the entire show grounds for the best daily drivers, car clubs, and other points of interest so you wouldn’t miss out on anything from the event. Despite the sweltering heat and radiating tarmac, we powered through every single row of Scion FR-S’s and Subaru BRZ’s to ensure that every car got the attention it deserved.
Bryan’s put quite a bit of blood and sweat into his build. His Blitz GT carbon fiber wing closes out at around $4,000 alone. You can read more about his progress on his instagram: @iamthebryman
The 86 Family.
More JDM-goodness, this time in Argento Silver flavor! not every car needs to have wild paint and bright wheels. A more understated look can really set a car off.
An FR-S for every day of the week! No two Scions’ look exactly alike, and that’s the way we like it.
The Grid. A digital frontier. I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer. What did they look like? Ships? Motorcycles? GT86s?
Sorry for the cheap pun, but we couldn’t resist. We have to acknowledge the owner for being brave enough to drive this unique creation out to 86 fest. It doesn’t matter if everyone doesn’t like it, as long as you do.
Baby Lexus(Subaru) LFA anyone? and bright neon green HRE wheels to boot! This is another unique snowflake of a BRZ that won’t soon be imitated.
One more for good measure. It’s hard to ignore that one-of-a-kind DAMD body kit.
A less extreme Subaru, but don’t mistake the calm demeanor for weakness. Those meaty tires mean business!
We’re not sure what those black dots on the bumper do, but we hope they’re for firing missiles and not for collision detection.
Filipino 86ers represent!
I want to call this a sleeper, but the GT wing in the back totally gives away the fact that deep down inside this thing holds the heart of a beast. Other than the wing, though, very clean.
I wouldn’t say Ultramarine goes well with red until seeing this FR-S in person. Of all the Scions and Subarus at 86 Fest III, this one was one of my favorites. Very bold styling, and it can easily blend in on the streets.
Subaru wa Kawaii~desu. Light purple isn’t the first color that comes to mind when I’m picking out wheel colors, but somehow this works – and it works well!
Iconic firestorm red Rocket bunny V1 Scion FR-S? I wonder who this could be…
…and from the rear. We couldn’t get enough of those white CCW wheels and that duck bill lip.
Subaru BRZ STi? World Rally Blue? 86 Fest III? What’s not to love?
World renowned @downrightfrs rocking Volk Racing TE-37s.
..and a really sexy license plate frame. I wonder where he got that from?
Absolutely gorgeous finish on this 10 Series Scion FR-S. A conservative drop and split six-spoke wheels really help with the overall presentation.
High contrast with a touch of purple. This “Toyota GT86” really presents well, especially with the five axis lip kit!
Ultramarine FR-S done to perfection. Everything from the JDM headlights to the color-matched fogs works in unison to create a cohesive build. @pedro_jr
Let’s not forget the fender shot with those gorgeous Work Emotions.
And one last view from the rear. This Ultramarine is another chart topper when it comes to our favorite builds of 86 Fest III.
Bronze and blues. You can’t go wrong with a color combination like that on a Subaru!
I know this BRZ has other, probably more notable features that the owner has put lots of work into, but that sun shade is just too cool.
Despite there being quite a few BRZ going for the STi look and feel, I like the burst of personality this owner injected into their build with the wheel setup.
Another famous build we’ve spotted at several other events. This thing’s got every modification under the moon – and then some!
..and from the other side. South Bay 86’s represent!
Hungry for some tofu? How about a nice evening cruise along Happogahara or Akina Snow?
Release Series? Nope. Custom wrap! Very impressive build so far. If you feel like following the owner, you can view his instagram: @wsven
and one more of the rear. Who doesn’t love Hata?
Technically not a “Toyota GT86” or a Batmobile, but I can understand this one getting confused for either while driving down the road. Those concave rear wheels do wonders for the overall stance of the car.
The Whiteout finish on this Scion FR-S contrasts perfectly with the red calipers and ghost decals along the side. Not too much, not too little. Just enough to catch your eye and spark your interest. Check him out at: @frs86star
But wait! That can’t be the end of our coverage, can it? Of course not. We’ve still got tons of 86 Fest III content to share. Stay tuned next week because we’ll be posting up our favorite vendor booths and booth vehicles! After that, we’ve got even more 86’s who decided to show up, but not actually display their cars. We swept through the entire parking lot cherry picking our favorite 86’s and we’ll be posting those up later this month as well!
